Writing Exercise(5/13/10)

He is a visionary because he wants to take a rundown, troubled area and take those children and give them the education that you would expect to find in the white picket fence areas of the U.S. He is attempting to do something very similar to that which Greg Mortenson is doing in Three Cups of Tea. He's attempting to change lives of hundreds of kids throughout his life time in the hopes that it will produce a trickle down effect and continue to change the lives of everyone for years to come even after he's long gone. The thing I think is most effective about his teaching is that he tries the hardest he can with every student and explains things time and time again which will cut into the schedule time for teaching, but the effort he puts out makes the kids realize that he is a teacher who actually gives a dam and is willing to put effort into helping them if they need it. He also treats them like actual people rather than like children and he gives them fair treatment. When he was talking near the end after the part on the D.C. trip he said "I could make more money, don't know if I'd have a better job. We go back to Atticus, here we can make a difference, and if I were to leave, I'd be a hypocrite. My big goal for the next year is graduating and getting my certification to be a C.P.A. and getting out into the workforce so I can move out on my own and become one step closer to the thing my heart desires most.
